A great selection in the round! Nice. I look forward to seeing what Substackers come up with in Monochrome. Because Monochrome is controversial, it is literally of one colour, so not black and white, but grey with no 'extremes' in pure white, or pure black, or maybe it is something else. Bernard Plossu for instance always insists that there should be no blacks in his photographs, they should all be in the grey-scale. Others go to the other extreme and kill the greys, leaving only the blacks and whites, such as Mario Giacomelli in some of his work, which of course then is two colour, and not 'of one colour'. I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with! As always, thank you for the prompt!!
I was not aware of those subtle distinctions, thanks for the additional thoughts Søren. Originally this was meant to be "Black and White" and the cover photo is a depiction of that as a 1 bit / bitmap of pure black and white tones. But after I started writing the newsletter, monochrome and "shades of gray" seemed a better fit. Even with the idea that it does not include pure black/white kind of lends itself nicely to the overarching theme of what I had written. Everything on a continuum without the extremes of one side or the other.
That worked! I appreciated the kind words in your note, and thanks for sharing your photo. One future suggestion in Notes is to also add "@" and "aminus3 photography" as it will tag us so it shows up in mentions to ensure we see your post. Otherwise the prompts are there for you to ponder in the week whether you share or not, hope to inspire your ideas either way.
Looking forward to your next pics Dan, and still trying to figure out how people are walking around that loop in your previous photo. Was that in Belgium?
I made it in Photoshop by making a circle cutout in a white overlay layer on top, and put the photos underneath so they clip to the outer shape. I was also working on an interactive web version to zoom in to the circles and be able to click on each one to link to the original, but thats around when I got stuck and moved on :)

So many incredible submissions! I’m looking forward to submitting some of my nature monochromes for this weeks challenge.
Thanks Nicole, and looking forward to seeing your monochrome pics this week.

made an offering in Notes, not sure how this thing works but giving it a go

Thank you for the feature 🙏🏻 Can't wait to submit this upcoming challenge.

Hehe yeah sorry forgot to answer 🥺
It's in Germany, near Düsseldorf.
And the loop is closed. You can't walk in it, but around it all open. It's fun
I really, really love the second picture from Dan. What beautiful submissions.
Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out what is going on in that one! Thanks K
Yes, I keep trying to figure it out too. How is the foot?
It is healing thanks. Still a few weeks in the cast but should be OK after that.
That is good to hear. Wishing you all the best.

Wow, there's some incredible circular photos here! 📸 So many great submissions.
Thanks Pamela! I was working on a fun creative layout that was itself a circle, but didn't quite make it in time.
I saw that creative layout too! What did you use to create it?

Absolutely, glad you enjoyed, and thanks for posting yours to the collection!
