Be Inspired and Learn Something New
The great thing about these photo prompts is how a single word can mean many things. Particularly when depicted visually in a photo.
As with the previous prompt of “Comfort” which was visualized through a variety of different interpretations, this week’s prompt starts deceptively simple.
Shell.
We are about half way through summer in the northern hemisphere, and anyone who has walked a beach before might associate this word with these colorful treasures.
Though there are other connotations with shells that you might consider.
When someone is introverted or shy we suggest they should, “Get out of their shell.”
Creatures like turtles and snails carry their shell homes everywhere they go.
When a city is under attack as bombs reign down it is called a “shelling”, and the bombed out places could be referred to as the shell of a building.
Language, in English or otherwise, provides us with many ways to interpret things based on clues, context, and intention.
And so too in our images we can provide the same clues, context, and intention to bring meaning to our photos.
What kind of shells do you envision and how will you photograph them?
Last Week’s Prompt Photos
As we are discussing, the idea of Comfort is relative. Over the last few days, the Aminus3 community stepped up to the challenge of interpreting the prompt in several different ways.
