Be Inspired and Learn Something New
This time of year, many smaller villages outside of Brussels, Belgium come alive with their annual harvest festivals.
Near where I live is the Druivenstreek, or grape region of Belgium.
Through August and September there are many dorpsfeesten (village festivals) going on with live music, activities for kids, plus delicious food and drink. The local grape growers show off their harvest and are judged in competition.
What kind of festivals do you enjoy where you live or travel? What do you consider visual elements that convey the idea of Festive?
Give that a thought as you prep for this week’s photography prompt.
Last Week’s Prompt Photos for “Travel”
Like chocolate and peanut butter, photography and travel are a perfect pairing.
Whether you are connecting to your own memories from the road, or you are embarking on an arm chair adventure through the eyes of another, photos are the mode of transport.
For new Substack subscribers, you have likely seen “Aminus3” being thrown around on this newsletter, and you are maybe wondering what that is all about.
Aminus3 is a photography community made up of creatives from over a hundred countries. As a platform where you can only publish one photo a day, it requires people to slow down and think a little more about the photos they choose to share.
These photography prompts have been a way to focus that intention even further.
From this highly international collective of photographers, we are often treated to images of diverse places and experiences from the daily lives of this community.
It is not surprising that for the prompt of Travel, the Aminus3 photographers came together to post some of their best.
From Estonian photographer, Vaido who wrote:
This selfie was taken in Oqatsuut village, Greenland. Oqaatsut is a small fishing settlement located in the North Greenland region. The settlement has a population of 42 people as of 2022. The name “Oqaatsut” means “cormorants” in the Greenlandic language.
This gorgeous photo from Alsace, France is by US based photographer Maria.
Besides themes of travel to far off places, Mhelene from Villiers-sur-Marne, France pondered on some thoughts on travel in the way that two people can,
“Make the way of life together is a weird and inexpected travel.”
You can find all the photos tagged for last week’s Travel prompt from the Aminus3 Community on this page.
