The photography prompt this week is: GRID
For the non-English native speakers, I was going to translate this, but it seems the word “Grid” is actually the same in several other languages. Also similar, grille / griglia / rejilla / gitter, you get the idea.
Why grids this week?
Have I mentioned I have been furiously working on some new creation to share with the world? Ah yeah, OK, perhaps I did mention that several times recently.
It has been somewhat all consuming, yet despite cranking away, there is still more work required before I am ready to share it out.
As with any layout based design from photo zines to mobile apps, one tends to get micro-focused on aligning bits and bobs on GRIDS. If you have made a web page any time in the last 30 years, the need for grid layouts has been there since the early days, and evolved quite a lot in that time (thank you CSS grid and flexbox.)
Used to be you couldn’t even vertically center an object on a page without some weird voodoo invocation of auto margins and text alignment tricks.
But I digress, this is a photography prompt. Finding and photographing grids is a lot easier than centering an animated gif on a web page circa 1996.

Heck, the most basic “rule” of photography composition involves aligning your subjects on an invisible (or not) grid of thirds.
Whether you are on-grid, off-grid, or somewhere in between, you should have ample ideas for images for the prompt this week. You can go obvious, or like the cover image, something more obscured.
Give it some thought and get creative.

A Victorian sash window seems to fit this week’s prompt …
Wonderful collection. Thank you for the mention and sharing my amusement ride at a fair picture.
