Be Inspired and Learn Something New
If you have been following the photography prompts you might have noticed that they are often intentionally worded to be open for interpretation.
Fortunately, the English language invites a wide range of ambiguity with words that can take on many different meanings.
Which brings us to the prompt this week of “striking”, a word that is well connected with a number of photography related expressions and visual concepts.
For example, the simple act of modeling for a photo is called, “striking a pose.”
We might even describe our model as “striking” if they possess a certain beauty or aesthetic impact.
Striking can be applied to other genres of photography as well including landscapes and documentary photography.
There are many possibilities which we invite you to explore this week for the “striking” prompt.
Last Week’s Prompt Photos for “Cycles”
The photos shared for the “cycles” prompt last week were a celebration of the many patterns in the world from small to grand scales.
Thami in Morocco posted this humorous and universal edict that, “Any man lying down will eventually stand up”, or as he wrote in his native French, “Tout homme allongé finira par se mettre debout.”
Several photos posted honored the cycle of life through the bond of mother and child including this pair from Marie and Anna.
Also too, the cycle of life and death was honored.
Other cycles may not be as permanent or impactful, but are still an ever-present part of this modern world including the cycles of wash, rinse and repeat.
From Italy, Giulio shared several creative and historic concepts of “Cycles” including the production cycle from the original 1920’s Lingotto Fiat factory with it’s test track on the roof. He also wrote about how waste disposal has evolved in his city of Turin in his post about the waste cycle.
And of course some cycles are just that… cycles!
